Feb 6, Janakpurdham : President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, has said the Madhesi Front currently in the government under the leadership of Dr Baburam Bhattarai were also authoritarian like the UCPN-Maoists.
Addressing a gathering organized jointly by the major opposition parties at Tirahutiya Gachhi here on Wednesday, President Koirala said the Madhesi Front was indifferent to the problems of madhesi people after it accepted Maoists’ leadership in government. “Nepal at present was so weak that threats on its nationality has been on the rise,” he said, adding that people should press for peace and stability.
On the occasion, Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel said that the UCPN-Moist was imposing authoritarianism with the help of Madhesi leaders.”UCPN-Maoist is the major obstacle to making the country a federal democratic republic”, he said, adding that consensus for election to Constituent Assembly was present need.However, there would be no national consensus, bypassing the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.
Similarly, Vice-Chairman of the CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam accused the UCPN-Maoist of making efforts to impose ethic federalism.”The UCPN-Maoist would fade way like the fascist Hitler with its fake socialism diminishing,” he argued.
Moreover, he said the Maoist party reached the BIPPA agreement with India to retain power. Other speakers on the occasion were leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Raghu Bir Mahasheth, Ram Kumar Chaudhari, Keshav Devkota and others.
