17,465 illiterate people become literate in Jajarkot

18 Aug, Jajarkot. As many as 17,465 illiterate people have become literate in Jajarkot district.

ReadingThe Literacy Nepal Campaign launched at 18 VDCs in the district has made such number of illiterate people literate.

Literacy classes were run at Khagenkot, Dandagaun, Khalanga, Ragda, Nayakbada, Rokayagaun, Jagatipur, Laha, Punma, Bhur, Bhagawati, other VDCs.

District Education Officer, Bishnu Narayan Shrestha, said that although the Campaign was launched with a target to make 20,813 illiterate people literate, 17,465 have become literate.

Similarly, four VDCs— Jhapra, Pajaru, Ramidanda and Dasera–have already been declared as ‘fully literate VDC’.

The VDCs were declared as fully literate VDC after 95 per cent people of each VDC became literate.

According to the District Education Office, Jajarkot, out of Rs 13.954 million allocated for the literacy classes, Rs 13.285 million has already been spent.

Now, 12 VDCs are remained to run literacy classes in the district. According to the Office, it has target to launch Literacy Nepal Campaign across the district by running literacy class at the remaining VDCs this year RSS
