Activists ask PM to address Dr KC’s demands

26 March, Kathmandu : Rights activists and some civil society leaders met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala this evening urging the latter to address the concerns of Prof Dr Govinda KC, who is on a hunger strike since the past five days demanding an end to ill-practice in medical education sector.

During the meeting, the activists urged the Prime Minister to immediately meet KC’s demand as his health was deteriorating. Kapil Shrestha, Dr Kedarnar Singh KC, Charan Prasain, Subodh Raj Pyakurel, Kanakmani Dixit and others were present at the meeting with the PM.

According to Prasain, the Prime Minister said that he was effortful to meet the demands of Dr KC while describing his demands as genuine. He also expressed concern about KC’s health.The PM also asked the activists to play the supporting role in this issue.

Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal was also present at the meeting.

Soon after the meeting with the PM, the team of rights activists visited Dr KC at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital with the PM’s message. RSS
