In a press release it issued today, the Ministry stated its attention has been drawn to the said news inaccurately quoting Minister of State for Labour and Employment Tek Bahadur Gurung with regard to the Nepalese workers in the State of Qatar in the wake of the devastating earthquake of 25 April.

“The content of the news report does not reflect the spirit of the Hon. Minister of State, who had just appealed, in a good faith, all employers of Qatar to facilitate the return of the Nepalese workers to join their family members in the country who have been victims of the recent earthquake. We have the report that the employers of Qatar have responded very positively to this matter and Nepalese workers are being facilitated by their employers to return to Nepal,” the press release states.

The Ministry expects fact-based and responsible news reporting from a reputed newspaper like The Guardian in the future, the Ministry said, expressing its full confidence that such unfounded news report would not affect the excellent bilateral relations subsisting between Nepal and the State of Qatar.
