Nepali Embassy in Russia launching new programme to promote Nepal’s tourism

26 June, Chitwan : Nepali Embassy in Russia has been engaged along with new programmes to promote Nepal’s tourism business which was affected by ‘Gorkha’ quake.

Embassy-of-MoscowWith the appointment to the post of Nepali Ambassador to Russia three years ago, Dr Ravi Mohan Sapkota has been publicizing among Russian nationals that Nepal is a tourism destination.

Ambassador Sapkota, who arrived here two days ago, said that he has been engaged in tourism promotion along with additional new programmes after quake.

Stating that some 90 million people of Russia, the world’s largest country, visit different places annually, Sapkota said the number of Russian people visiting Nepal has reached 13,000 every year from 5,000 after his appointment to the post.

Industrialists, businessmen and officials, among others of Russia wish to visit different places as there is vacation in the months June, July and August.

Ambassador Sapkota said, “The country encourage the people to visit different places during vacation. It also provides loan in an accessible manner through banks for the same. Preparation is underway to appoint Alex Sandar Terentiya as Alex Sandar Terentiya as honorary consul general to attract a large number of Russian folks towards Nepal.”

An office would be established at Saint Petersburg after the appointment of Terentiya to the post. He has visited Nepal for the fifth times. It would be easier to attract people towards Nepal.

The Ambassador further said that they have honoured 13 Russian nationals, who had climbed Mt Everest, as well as urged them encourage people to visit Nepal. He said an extensive discussion has been organised among Russian tourism entrepreneurs, guides and operators on July 15 in Russia to end negative thinking spread in Russia in recent period after quake.

The Embassy has scheduled a programme for 15 representatives of different sectors of Russia to visit different tourism sites of Nepal after the discussion programme with the help of the Nepal Tourism Board and hotels.

Sapkota further said that the Embassy was in preparation to bring a team comprising Russian journalists to Nepal in coming September, adding it would help bring more tourists in Nepal.

The Russian nationals enjoyed Nepal’s culture, Buddhism and nature. Russia has 130 million population. Some 500 Nepalese are in Russia. RSS
