Kathmandu, October 2 . The government is to register a proposal for amending the newly-promulgated federal constitution. It will register such a proposal 13 days after the CA promulgated the constitution with overwhelming majority.
Friday’s Cabinet meeting decided to amend the charter to address the demands of United Democratic Madheshi Front. The amendment is meant to address UDMF-raised concerns related to proportional representation and delineation of constituencies based on population.
Forest Minister Mahesh Acharya said the proposal will include provision to ensurea proportionate representation. Election constituencies will be determined on the basis of population, he said. The amendment will ensure that each district will have at least one election constituency, he said.
