Kathmandu, October 4

Nepal Oil Corporation decided to reject a small consignment of petroleum products from India, pointing it is seeking oil and not perfume.

NOC reply came after the Indian Oil Corporation did not even fill 10 out of 110 tankers that had entered different border points in India for bringing fuel to Nepal. These tankers had entered India after receiving communication that India had decided to ease the blockade.

Twelve years after the Indian announcement, it became clear that IOC depots were ready to supply oil to only 10 per cent of the tankers that had entered India.

The IOC had informed the NOC on Saturday it is ready to provide oil to Nepal as per the demand.

Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dip Kumar Upadhyay, had informed Nepal about the end of the Indian blockade, while his Indian counterpart Ranjit Ray had briefed Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala that supply from India will ease now on.

Subsequently, IOC issued a call, asking fuel suppliers to get oil through Raxaul, Siligudi and Allahabad depots. But when the tankers reached there, they were told that only 10 per cent of them will get oil.

NOC had sent 63 tankers to Raxaul depot, 40 to Siligudi depot and six tankers to Allahabad depot for bringing oil. But IOC officials said they will provide oil only to 10 per cent of these tankers, NOC said.

This miffed NOC, which refused to accept oil.
