Huge cache of edible oil: Police raid on Rupandehi store pays off

Tel-Baramad

Online Khabar

Kathmandu, November 24. Amid a serious shortage of essentials like edible oil in the market, a police team has confiscated a huge cache of edible oil — about 700 cartons — during a raid at New Pavitra Store in Gallamandi, Siddharthanagar municipality-6, Rupandehi.

The cache consisted of edible oil of different Nepali and Indian brands. Netra Acharya, secretary of Siddharthanagar Chambers of Commerce and Industry, is the owner of the store.

The police raided the store at a time when black marketing and hoarding is rife. Interestingly, police is said to have acted on a tip-off from cadres of the United Democratic Madheshi Front, which has been spearheading a movement in Madhesh.

Owners of other stores based in the locality have pulled shutters after the police raid.
