For Bhantabari firing, India should offer public apology: Biplav-led Maoist party

Kathmandu, November 26. The Netra Vikram Chand Biplav-led CPN-Maoist has demanded that India offer a public apology for the Bhantabari incident in which India’s Seema Sashastra Bal personnel crossed into the Nepali territory in Bhantabari, Sunsari, on Wednesday and opened fire, injuring four Nepali nationals.

biplabIn separate press releases, the Maoist party and Central People’s Council Nepal demanded a public apology from India, stating that the incident has angered Nepalis.

“Instead of offering a public apology, Indian Ambassador issued a statement claiming that the personnel had opened fire on smugglers. This has angered Nepalis,” the release states.

The Indian rulers should take responsibility for the Bhantabari firing, regret it and offer a public apology, the release quotes Chand as saying. He has demanded that India should make a pledge to not repeat such incidents.

Meanwhile, Sadbhavana Party President told Online Khabar that the (KP Oli) government should investigate the Bhantabari firing, make the findings public and hold talks with India.

He advised the government to take up the incident with India. Asked why the UDMF had not issued a statement about the incident, Mahato said: Why should the front issue a statement. I have spoken. Is it not enough?
