DPM Gachchhadar, Finance Minister on inspection of Rasuwagadhi supply lifeline

Gachedhar-Poudel

Online Khabar
Kathmandu, November 27.A team of senior government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, has set out on an aerial inspection of the Kerung customs and roads, apparently to study the possibility of facilitating large-scale import of essentials to Nepal via Kerung and Rasuwagadhi in Rasuwa.

The airborne team includes, besides Gachchhadar and Poudel, Finance Minister Lok Darshan Regmi, Road Department Director-General Madhav Karki, National Planning Commission Joint Secretary Gopi Mainali and chief of the Langtang National Park.

CPN-UML lawmaker from Rasuwa, Janardhan Dhakal, is coordinating the aerial inspection.

The team will inspect the Kerung customs and roads with a view to upgrading the infrastructure, lawmaker Dhakal told Online Khabar.
This news portal had published a report, stating that upgradation will complete in six months if upgradation work moves on a war footing. According to Dhakal, the news published in the portal apparently drew the attention of Physical Infrastructure and Finance ministries. The Finance Minister asked me if the news is true and I said yes. Subsequently, the team decided to set off on an aerial inspection of the region.
After inspection, Finance Minister Poudel said the government will made appropriate decisions on upgradation of Rasuwagadhi customs and security post.

The 153-km supply lifeline originating in China wends through Galchhi(Dhading), Dhunche, Syafrubesi and Rasuwagadhi.
But realigning this route is the way to go.

Opting for Betravati-Mailung-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi route means cutting the lifeline short by 22 km.

The Nepali Army started opening the track but the task is a bit stuck with the national park not allowing construction of the track through the park. In this context, we embarked on an inspection of the area by bringing Langtang national park chief and ministers on board.
Rabindra Adhikari, chair of the parliamentary Development Committee, said the committee is preparing a report stating that it will be possible to make the track operational in 1.5 years.
