NC prez challenges Prachanda to topple govt
2 July, Kathmandu
Nepali Congress President GP Koirala has challenged Unified CPN (M) chief Prachanda to use all efforts at the latter’s best level to overthrow the current UML-led coalition.
Koirala posed this challenge before Prachanda while speaking to mediapersons in the former’s residence in Biratnagar this morning. No country including India and USA has interfered with internal matters of the country, said Koirala dismissing the Maoists’ allegations.
Putting the drafting of new statute on priority, former PM Koirala urged all parties to be serious in this regard. “The new constitution can be promulgated on scheduled time if all parties remain committed to constitution-making process giving up the dirty political game for power,” stressed Koirala. At the same time, Koirala expressed great concern over mushrooming ethnic armed groups in the country, hinting at the conflict between the haves (the rich) and the haves-not (the poor) in the offing.
In talks with mediapersons, Koirala also underlined the need to bridge the growing gap between the rich and the poor instead of launching various ethnic movements.
