SEPT 3, KATHMANDU. Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Nepali Congress President, Sushil Koirala, held separate meetings with Chairman of the Interim Election Council (IEC), Khil Raj Regmi, this morning.

During the meeting held at the official residence of Chairman Regmi at Baluwatar, they discussed on various issues including contemporary political issues, preparations for the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) and the Phujel incident of Gorkha district.

On the occasion, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal urged Chairman Regmi not to proceed ahead with the Phujel incident, it is learnt.

The Phujel incident relates to the abduction and the subsequent killing of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Phujel, Gorkha during the conflict period. Adhikari’s parents are now on a hunger strike calling for action against the murderers of their son.

Human rights activists have called for a thorough investigation into the killing and the government has said it would proceed with the investigations. But the UCPN (Maoist) has been against proceeding with the case saying it fell under the purview of the proposed Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

NC President Koirala called on Chairman Regmi after Dahal met him.Chairman Regmi and Koirala discussed on different issues including preparation of CA election from the side of government and the Election Commission.

Koirala is the coordinator of the High-Level Political Committee (HLPC). A meeting of HPLC has been scheduled for this evening. RSS
