Kathmandu, February 2. The government ‘sold’ Upper Karnali to India’s GMR against Nepal’s national interest, and that too for peanuts, Deputy Prime Minister Chitra Bahadur KC says.

Kathmandu, February 1. India’s U-19 cricket team have defeated Nepal by seven wickets in their final group stage match in the ongoing U-19 World Cup. Nepal never looked to threaten the Indian side during the entire match. Nepal’s opening batsman Sunil Dhamala was out without troubling the score in the first over of the Nepali innings.
Yogendra Karki, who replaced Dhamala at the crease, could only muster seven runs. Skipper Raju Rijal, who had so far been the mainstay of Nepal’s batting lineup in the tournament, also got out after making six runs. Opener Sandeep Sunar looked threatening, but he too got out after making 37 runs. Vice-captain Arif Sheikh chipped with 26.
Kathmandu, January 31. Nepali Congress’ establishment faction (led by Sushil Koirala) has proposed that the party have three vice-presidents.
According to the proposal, there shall be one senior VP and two VPs. The senior VP will be elected by party representatives and the other two VPs will be nominated by the party president. The Koirala camp also wants the party’s treasurer, who in the past has been elected by party representatives, to be nominated by the president.
Kathmandu, January 29. The Chinese government is preparing to sign a loan agreement with Nepal for the proposed regional international airport in Pokhara, during Prime Minister KP Oli’s visit to Beijing in a few months.

Kathmandu, January 29. Five vehicles from Raxaul have crossed the Miteri bidge, where agitated Madheshi Morcha supporters have been organising a sit-in for over 120 days.
Local authorities said four vehicles have also crossed the bridge from Nepal by 9 am. Parsa DO Keshav Raj Ghimire said around 4-5 protesters were present when the the vehicles made the crossing.
