Kathmandu, October 27. Nepali Congress has decided to field its former general secretary and lawmaker Kul Bahadur Gurung as its candidate for the President’s post.
It decided to field lawmaker Amiya Kumar Yadav as candidate for Vice-president. Tuesday morning’s meeting of Congress office-bearers held at party President Sushil Koirala’s residence in Maharajgunj had decided to contest the two posts. Subsequently, NC central working committee meeting proposed the candidates’ names.
The party has decided to field senior leaders Gurung and Amiya Kumar Yadav as candidates for President and Vice-president, NC CWC member Gagan Thapa said.
Yadav, a veteran leader from Siraha, became lawmaker under the proportionate representation system. At the CWC meeting, leaders said they will hold talks with UCPN-Maoist leadership after fielding candidacies for the two posts.
