Online Khabar

Kathmandu, November 23.  Major parties have agreed to push the Nepali Congress-proposed constitution amendment regulation ahead by taking United Democratic Madheshi Front into confidence.

BaluwatarThe parties, including the main opposition Nepali Congress, made this decision at a meeting held in the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Monday morning.

The NC had registered its amendment proposal seeking proportionately inclusive provision and delineation of at least one constituency each in districts with smaller populations. The Congress has started a protest, pointing that the government is not pushing the amendment proposal ahead.

The Baluwatar meeting reached an understanding to push ahead the proposal by taking Maddheshi Front into confidence, UCPN-Maoist Vice-President Narayan Kaji Shrestha told Online Khabar.

The ruling coalition and the main opposition both decided to hold talks about Madhesh protesters’ 11-point charter of demands with the front. After these talks, the main opposition and the ruling coalition will hold a meeting and come up with a common understanding on the issue. The meeting asked the protesters to opt for a peaceful movement.

Parties taking part at the meeting also decided to inform the public about rights that the new constitution has given to the people, collectively and individually.
