Indian foreign minister’s new proposal: Let’s send all-party delegation to Nepal

Kathmandu, December 3. Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has proposed to the upper House that an all-party delegation be sent to Nepal.
Swaraj, who was making a statement on the state Nepal-India relations, was cut off by the House’s Vice-chair citing time constraints. Because most of what she was saying was India’s stated position on Nepal, the statement was kept in House records.
Swaraj, in her written statement, has said there is a broad consensus in India about the government’s handling of the situation in Nepal.
Sushma Swaraj Statement About Nepal 1In her statement, Swaraj maintained that the international community, including the US, UK, UN and EU have taken a position similar to that of India. They have spoken out about the need to ensure an inclusive Constitution and address fundamental issues through dialogue, she said.
The minister said that her meeting with Nepal’s foreign minister Kamal Thapa has told her that progress has been made in talks between the government and the Madheshi parties. She said India hopes that a solution is found at the earliest.
