Bardiya, Sept 4: A Police Head Constable died this morning in a clash that took place between agitators and police in course of escorting night buses coming from capital to their destinations.
The deceased has been identified as Dev Bahadur Pandey. The incident took place at the Area Police Office, Mainapokhar, around 9:00 am. The clash took place after the agitators attacked the vehicles being escorted towards their destinations by police.
Chief District Officer, Binod Bahadur Kunwar, said that police opened five rounds of bullet in the air as well as some rounds of teargas shells.
According to a witness, two agitators were injured in police firing and the injured have been taken to Nepalgunj. The district has remained closed since 25 days at a call of the Tharuhat United Struggle Committee and United Madhesi Front.
Head Constable Pandey died while undergoing treatment at Teaching Hospital, Nepalgunj, said Kunwar. RSS
