In City, NC to rally against govt indifference towards Madhesh crisis, black marketing

Kathmandu, December 1. The main opposition Nepali Congress has found its calling finally, it appears.

On Wednesday, it is staging a rally to press the KP Oli government to control black marketing and address the Madhesh Movement.

NC (Kathmandu) President Bhimsen Das Pradhan said at a press conference that the rally is meant ot press the government to control black marketing and resolve the Madhesh crisis early through talks.

The ‘rally for rights, justice and peace’ will begin from Shanti Batika at 1 pm. According to Pradhan, the rally aims to draw attention of India, which has been imposing a blockade in support of the Madhesh Movement, and the government, which has been showing indifference towards resolution of the crisis.

He requested the Oli government to push forth the constitution amendment proposal that the erstwhile Congress administration had tabled in the Parliament.

Speaking at the programme, lawmakers and NC central committee members Gagan Thapa, Dhyan Govinda Ranjit, Dipak Kuinkel and Tirtha Ram Dangol accused the government of showing indifference towards resolution of the Madhesh crisis.

The lawmakers claimed that the Madheshi demands will be addressed by pushing forward the Congress’ amendment proposal.

They urged the government to push forward the Reconstruction Authority Bill.
