For rebuilding quake-devastated lives, Live to Love, Drukpa Nepal start a weeklong walkathon

Live to loveOnline Khabar
Kathmandu, November 17. Live to Love and Drukpa Nepal initiated a Padyatra called “A Walk to Remember Nepal” in the severely affected areas of Sindhupalchowk from Druk Amitabh Mountain on November 15 to raise funds for Nepal’s earthquake victims. His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa of the 1,000-year-old Drukpa Order based in the Himalayas is leading the event with more than 200 Live to Love volunteers and followers of the Drukpa Order.

This event allows volunteers to assess the needs of the earthquake survivors while concurrently raising awareness for the continued support needed to rebuild the lives and communities of the survivors, the organisers said in a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa said: This Padyatra is in remembrance of the Nepal earthquakes, which rendered more than one million people and families homeless, many of whom are still struggling to rebuild their lives. It is a reminder that work is far from over. More work is ahead of us and the world must remember the challenges that Nepalis face in rebuilding their lives.

The Padyatra commences at Druk Amitabha Mountain, famed for its kung fu nuns – first responders and female role-models of courage, and will cover a distance of roughly 450km.

It traverses through some of the most devastated areas like Thimbu, Mila Raypa Nye, Sermathang, Gangyul, Baruwa and will conclude in Chautara, the district headquarter of Sindhupalchowk.

During the journey, His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa will speak on the importance of compassion in action, and perform prayers for the deceased and for the affected families.

The padyatra will conclude on November 22.

Live to Love, a non-profit specialising humanitarian efforts in the Himalayan region, has taken a lead by building over 200 houses in Ramkot, the release states, adding: It is now moving ahead with the Padyatra to raise funds for the rebuilding efforts.
