Kathmandu, October 9. The government has decided to provide Rs 2 million to Nepali Congress leader and former minister Khum Bahadur Khadka. The amount is in compensation for Khadka’s house, which Maoist insurgents had destroyed during the decade-long insurgency.
Friday’s Cabinet meeting decided to give away the amount to Khadka, acting on a proposal of Peace and Reconstruction Minister Narhari Acharya.
Ministers from the CPN-UML had objected to Acharya’s proposal first. But Acharya managed to get his proposal endorsed, saying that Khadka was suffering from kidney failure, a source told Online Khabar.
Khadka has already received compensation for the house. Meanwhile, the government has distributed lakhs to its leaders and cadres in the name of Dashain expenses.
