Bidhya Bhandari sworn in President

Kathmandu, October 29. President-elect Bidhya Bhandari took the oath of office and secrecy from Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha at a special ceremony organised in Sital Niwas, on Thursday. She has become the first woman President of the federal republic of Nepal.

After Bhandari’s arrival on the venue, outgoing President Ram Baran Yadav arrived. The swearing-in began after Nepali Army offered a guard of honour to Yadav. Bhandari took the oath in the name of god, the country and the people. Afterwards, Yadav handed over the presidential seat to Bhandari and left.
