STRIKE AFFECTS LIFE; VEHICLES VANDALIZED

Kathmandu, Jan 20: The nationwide general strike called by the UCPN (Maoist)-led 30-party alliance and Padmaratna Tuladhar-led Indigenous Nationalities National Movement has affected the normal life in the capital from early morning today.

The banda enforcers took out rallies from different places early morning in support of the strike.

The vehicles have remained off the road.

According to the police, buses, taxies and other vehicles have been vandalized by the agitating opposition parties’ cadres.

Spokesperson of the Office of Metropolitan Police Commission Hemanta Pal said that 18 cadres of the agitating parties were arrested for resorting to vandalism.

Likewise, the banda enforcers attacked Upendraman Singh, a photo journalist of Associated Press, while he was taking a photo of banda enforcers setting a motorcycle of the United Nations on fire.

Likewise, the agitators also seized an audio recorder of RSS scribe Bhishma Raj Ojha when the latter was taking reaction from AP photographer Singh. RSS
