Kathmandu, November 29.The Nepal-India border, it appears, does not mean a thing for India’s Seema Sashastra Bal personnel.
In yet another breach of Nepal’s sovereignty, 13 SSB personnel crossed into Jhapa. This comes days after SSB personnel crossed into Bhantabari, Sunsari in the name of tailing smugglers, shooting and injuring four Nepali nationals.
A team of Armed Police Force personnel nabbed the 13 SSB personnel after locals of Jhapa encircled them. The Indian security personnel have given the standard answer this time as well: We ended up in Nepal while tailing smugglers.
Toeing the usual line, the Indian security personnel said they ended up in Nepal while trying to arrest smugglers.
Home Ministry Spokesperson Laxmi Prasad Dhakal confirmed the arrest of 13 SSB personnel.
The Nepal government has already sought formal clarification from India about the Bhantabari shooting.
This time, the local administration will hand over the 13 personnel to competent Indian authorities after completing due procedures. The local administration is holding talks (with Indian authorities) towards this end, Dhakal informed.
