Kathmandu, October 14. Youth Association Nepal has pressed CPN-UML Chair KP Oli and UCPN-Maoist Chair Prachanda to cobble together a single communist party by bringing different communist parties together.
A delegation of UML youth leaders met Prachanda at his residence and asked him to take initiatives for formation of a single communist party. YAN Chief Rajiv Pahari had led the team.
Prachanda appeared excited at the proposal of UML youth leaders close to Oli. He replied: “Knowingly or unknowingly, we (communist parties) have come together. Now we need to have one party of communists. You take initiatives for the same.”
Nepal’s constitution is socialism-oriented, Prachanda said. Working together, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist can form a communist centre. “This constitution is against feudalism and imperialism. It is geared towards socialism,” Prachanda said. “Knowingly or unknowingly, we have arrived at the working unity level. Anti-communist forces do not like this development.”
This working unity of communist parties has panicked some forces, Prachanda said. “These forces have started hatching conspiracies to finish off communists.”
He further said: “Several forces have not liked the emergence of leftists as a formidable force. They are unhappy with our working unity. But we should join hands and make a central communist party in Nepal.”
YAN Chief Pahari called for formation of one communist party in Nepal under joint leadership of KP Oli and Prachanda. You two should start unification of communist parties as both of you can take bold decisions, Pahari requested.
YAN General Secretary Kiran Poudel said they plan to meet leaders of smaller communist parties and press them for formation of a communist centre.
Khada for Prachanda
YAN felicitated UCPN-Maoist Chair Prachanda for taking rightful stance and leading the constitution-making process. YAN Chief Pahari feted Prachanda at his residence by offering khada. Prachanda thanked YAN for approaching him for unification of communist parties. The Maoist chief told UML cadres he will attend the tea party that YAN is organising at Dashrath Stadium.
