Viral fever epidemic in Bhaktapur

OCT 16, KATHMANDU.The viral fever has become epidemic in Bhaktapur with the beginning of the Dashain festival. The number of viral patients flocking to the hospitals and clinics here for treatment has soared up.

According to information given by the Bhaktapur Hospital, the hospital has received a high pressure of viral patients in the past few days. The patients are visiting the emergency ward seeking treatment as the Out Patience Department (OPD) is closed during the Dashain holiday.

Similarly, the Siddhi Memorial, a child hospital, said that the number of viral patients has suddenly gone up in the hospital and it has deputed a separate medical team for the timely treatment.

Besides, pressure of patients at health clinics is higher than of hospitals. Most of them are children, the Bhaktapur Health Clinic said. The cases of viral fever are on the rise after the Ghatasthapana, the first day of the Dashain festival, Dr Upeshkanta Agrawal said.

Sudden change in the weather and lack of proper sanitation are the causes of an epidemic outbreak of the disease, he said and suggested to the people not to neglect the disease as it may further develop jaundice and typhoid.

Normally the viral fever will continue for a week, making the patient very weak and special alertness is necessary to avoid its transmission. High fever, fatigue, dizziness, muscle, bone or joint aches and weakness are the symptoms of viral fever. RSS
