Biratnagar, October 11. India’s Seema Sashastra Bal (SSB) personnel beat up Nepal Police personnel, including Assistant Sub Inspector Pradip Giri, close to the Nepal-India border in Rani, Biratnagar, today. They also took away a pistol from them.
SSB personnel took Giri and other personnel under control from no-man’s-land, beat them up and seized a pistol, Pramod Kharel, spokesperson for Morang ditrict police office, informed .
Injured in the attack, Giri and other security personnel are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Clashes had broken out between police and United Democratic Madheshi Front cadres when the latter tried to shut Rani customs. SSB personnel intervened in the fighting, seized Nepal police personnel, took them to Indian territory and beat them up, Kharel informed.
Morang police said Nepali and Indian security personnel are making preparations to conduct an investigation and return the seized weapon.
