Govt assigns DPM Kamal Thapa for supply crisis talks with India

Kathmandu, October 12. The KP Oli government has entrusted Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa with the task of holding talks with India and easing supply of essentials to Nepal.

Oli’s predecessor Sushil Koirala had formed a committee under then foreign minister Mahendra Pandey for crisis talks with India.

Talking to reporters after Monday’s Cabinet meeting, Law Minister and government Spokesperson Agni Kharel informed that the government has given Minister Thapa the responsibility of holding talks with India and easing the supply situation.

Asked what will happen to the talks team that Koirala had formed, Kharel said, “Today’s Cabinet meeting kept mum on the talks team that three major parties had formed.”

PM Oli’s first move

Newly-elected Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has signed on a decision to replace tuin crossings across the country with suspension bridges. This is the first decision Oli took after assuming office at Singha Durbar. Replacing 385 rope bridges with suspension bridges will cost Rs 3.77 billion.

Agni Kharel made Spokesman

The newly-installed KP Oli government has appointed Law Minnister Agni Kharel as its spokesperson. Monday’s Cabinet meeting made this decision. In its first decision, the Cabinet decided to replace country’s wire crossings with suspension bridges.
