Ready to resume supply oil to Nepal, says Indian Oil

Kathmandu, October 11. India has indicated it is willing to resume supply of petroleum products to Nepal. This is the second time that the southern neighbour has sent such a signal. Some days ago, it had sent a similar request. Based on the request, petroleum tankers had entered Indian territories. But India supplied oil only to 10 per cent of petroleum tankers back then.

Indian Oil Corporation officials again phoned Nepal Oil Corporation officials yesterday, asking them to bring oil from its depots. This comes after NOC invited a global tender for supply of petroleum products to Nepal.

Indian officials said they are ready to increase oil supply, while Nepali officials suspect this is another attempt to cheat Nepal.

IOC had provided oil to only 10 per cent of petroleum tankers that had reached India after IOC officials called them to oil depots.

“Officials from the IOC headquarters called yesterday, asking us to send tankers for oil,” NOC Spokesperson Dipak Baral said. We will send the tankers tomorrow as Sunday is a public holiday in India, he said.
