Biratnagar, October 5 . Through Biratnagar’s Rani customs, a small consignment of petroleum products, including cooking gas, entered Nepal on Monday. The consignment comprised 25 tankers loaded with oil.
Chief of Rani customs, Krishna Bahadur Basnet, said these tankers were waiting for customs clearance at Indian territories for long.
So far today, 13 diesel tankers, 10 diesel tankers and two gas bullets have entered Nepal, Basnet informed.
The 25 carriers that entered Nepal today are carrying petroleum products, including cooking gas.
Basnet and Jogbani customs chief Pranesh Gupta had made a five-point agreement on opening customs. They had agreed to release vehicles carrying oil, medicine and food items on priority basis. They also agreed to set up help desk along the customs point, bring goods carriers to Nepal using police escort, among others.
While Birgunj and Bhairahawa customs remain closed, 37 goods carriers entered Nepal through Mechi customs this afternoon. None of them were carrying oil. Mechi customs chief Bhim Adhikari said they will release four gas bullets that arrived last night once they get customs clearance.
Nepalgunj customs chief Rajendra Khanal said not a single oil tanker had entered Nepal through Jamunaha customs today. As of this afternoon, 10 goods carriers have entered Nepal through Jamunaha.
