How mad man became statesman? Lawmaker Prem Bahadur Singh knows better

Kathmandu, October 11. Nepal’s political leaders have a very short memory and they stand on a very weak moral plank. This became clear, once again, at the Parliament on Sunday.

In the run-up to the crucial vote for the prime minister’s vote at the Parliament, Socialist People’s Party leader and lawmaker Prem Bahadur Singh described CPN-UML Chair and PM candidate KP Sharma Oli as a statesman. Not so long ago, Singh had demanded at a meeting of the Prachanda-headed 33-party alliance that Oli be declared a mad man.

On February 4, 2015, the alliance had made a decision in writing, stating that Oli had lost his mental equilibrium and needs to undergo treatment. Surprisingly, Singh himself had made a proposal to this effect, in the capacity of the alliance’s Spokesperson.

On Sunday, Singh offered a different spectacle at the rostrum. He heaped praise on Oli, causing people to speculate that he may be vying to become a minister in the new government.

During his speech, Singh expressed confidence that Oli will play the role of prime minister and statesman, helping the country achieve progress and prosperity. Singh expressed hope Oli will be a shining example for Nepalis, who take their self-esteem very seriously. He called all to make Oli victorious, saying the latter was taking government leadership in special circumstances.

Question arises: Singh was wrong then or he is wrong now?
